Welcome back
NFSI PTSO K-12 Pathway

Weekly Newsletter - September 5, 2024

A Message from NFSI PTSO Presidents

We are so excited for the school year to start. We wanted to introduce our organization for those that have just signed up for this newsletter.

The Nuevas Fronteras Spanish Immersion Parent Teacher Student Organization (NFSI PTSO) is a non-profit, volunteer community with the purpose of supporting our schools, teachers and students through the Kinder through 12th grade Spanish Immersion Pathway.  Learn more at our website, www.nfsiptso.org, and bookmark it for future reference.  You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

There is so much going on right now, here is the quick summary:

  1. We need breakfast and lunch helpers.  Check out the link or the section below for more information.

  2. First PTSO community meeting is Tuesday, September 24 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm in the NFSI Media Center.  Come and learn more about what the PTSO does for the NFSI Kinder through 12th grade pathway.  Childcare is complimentary and provided by our Language Ambassadors (LAs).

We are looking forward to working together as a community this year.

Welcome Back Updates
We need Back to School Helpers!

We need some help to get the school year started off on the right foot!

Sign up here to help with picture day or help our kinder students in the lunch room on their first week at school!

**Kinder parents we ask that you don't volunteer for lunchroom duty as this transition can be tough for the kids, and we don't want to make it harder.  We would love to have you help in the other spots though!

Language Ambassador News
Program Updates

Our LAs have arrived and are settling in to our community, state and country.  They've been welcomed by their fall host families and were waiting in the classrooms this week to meet our students!

We will be introducing them to you very soon.  In the meantime, check out the current ride requests below and stay tuned to our newsletter each week for all the ways you'll be able to help and connect with the LAs.

LA Ride Requests

There will be more rides needed this year. Keep an eye out for the ride requests sent by the LA Ride Coordinator this year and if everyone signs up for a few, we can help the LAs have a wonderful experience while they are here this year. Be sure to bookmark the ride sign-up link and keep checking it!

If you can’t provide rides, consider donating here and we will use the funds to order Lyft/Uber rides

Tio/Tia Families Needed!

Do you wish you could spend more personal time with an LA, but do not have the space or time to commit to hosting one?  We have an idea for you!

Tios/Tias help to support both the LAs and their host families by inviting their LA over/out for meals, planning outings and adventures, and being a consistent part of their new Minnesota family.

If you're interested and want to learn more about this opportunity to serve our community, contact the LA Coordinators Emily & Rachel at lacoordinators@nfsiptso.org

Volunteer Opportunities
Join the PTSO Board!

We are still looking to fill a couple of board positions—Co-communications and Co-fundraising chairs.  If you are interested in being part of the PTSO leadership, please reach out to vicepresident@nfsiptso.org.
